About the Site
The English Learner Mentoring website includes the following modules:

Belief systems - Explains how sharing the vision that “all children can learn” will support the goals of responsibility and accountability for effectively meeting the instructional needs of English Learners.

Theoretical Foundations - Summarizes the current research on language acquisition, which is the cornerstone for language development, and related topics that have implications for improving student academic progress.

Teaching Strategies - Defines the five fluency levels on the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), as well as strategies for grouping for instruction.

Lesson Plans - Explains the difference between English Language Development (ELD) and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE); includes lesson design strategies and sample lessons for each approach.

Assessment - Provides background information and strategies for assessing the progress of English Learners.

Supervisor Perspective - Addresses the importance of administrator participation in observing and evaluating the effectiveness of instruction in meeting the needs of English Learners.
