The History of LinkWorld - Creosote Desert
The Creosote Desert celebrates one of the most common desert flora to be found in San Diego and Imperial counties. The creosote bush is known by its latin name, Larrea tridentata. It is distinctive, sweet and fragrant and flourishes in the low and high deserts of Southern California.
The landscape and flora of the Creosote Desert was modeled from images taken by Carol Kerney, and from images drawn from UC Berkeley's CalPhoto database (part of UCB's Digital Library Project). Since the designers of LinkWorld were located in the U.K., all of the information needed to be provided in photographs or on the web. The landscape of the Creosote Desert is vastly different than that of The Meadowlands or The Mountains areas.
The Creosote Desert area of LinkWorld includes a small gallery with more images of the Creosote desert and a meeting room filled with resources where private sessions can take place between counselors, tutors, mentors and students from the Borderlink Project.
