LinkWorld is a large virtual world in AWedu . The world measures 1 square kilometer in size. The landing point is exactly in the center of the world. The world extends 50 degrees in each direction from the center with 10 meters per degree. For the Borderlink Project, the virtual world was divided into nine discreet areas. Each of the nine areas represents a zone for private meetings and features a different "biome" of Imperial and San Diego Counties. The building in each area is different color.

In order to create realistic landscapes, LinkWorld was terraformed with different textures and different elevations. For instance, Mt. Signal (bottom center) features the highest elevation in the world (white). All blue areas are flat. Active Art Design used a terraformer program to automatically generate the elevations. They then hand textured the landscapes with a selection of textures appropriate to the biomes of Southern California.

This map shows partial aerial shots of each of the nine areas after the were built. The buildings are much smaller than shown here, but this view shows the different qualities of each biome. These areas include the Ocotillo Desert with the main teleport center, and clockwise from the top: Borrego, Salton Sea, Creosote Desert, The Dunes, Mt. Signal, Mountain Valley, the Mountains and the Meadowlands.
