The History of LinkWorld - Mountain Valley

Mountain Valley replicates the bioregions of Mountain Empire, a vast rural area in the Eastern part of San Diego County.

The landscape and flora of the Mountain Valley was modeled from images taken by Carol Kerney, and from images drawn from UC Berkeley's CalPhoto database (part of UCB's Digital Library Project). Since the designers of LinkWorld were located in the U.K., all of the information needed to be provided in photographs or on the web.

In addition to landmarks such as a water tower and telephone poles, the Mountain Valley area of LinkWorld includes a small gallery with more images of the Mountain Valley and a meeting room filled with resources where private sessions can take place between counselors, tutors, mentors and students from the Borderlink Project.
